A treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. The nerve and pulp are removed, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.
It gets a bad reputation, but it is actually the cure for pain. The pain comes from the infection; the root canal removes the infection.
With modern anesthesia, it is no more painful than getting a filling. You are numb the entire time.
Usually 60–90 minutes. Molars with 3-4 canals take longer than front teeth.
