A translucent rod made of glass or quartz fibers embedded in a resin matrix. It is cemented into the canal of a tooth that has undergone Root Canal Treatment.
After a root canal, a tooth is often hollow and brittle. If too much natural structure is missing, a filling cannot stay in place. The fiber post acts as an anchor (similar to rebar in concrete) to hold the filling material (the Core), which then supports the final Crown.
It is a non-metallic pin placed inside the tooth root to provide structural support for a crown.
