Dental Pulp

The soft, living tissue located in the center of the tooth (pulp chamber) and inside the root canals. It contains nerves, blood vessels, connective tissue, and specialized cells called odontoblasts.

Why It Matters

The pulp forms the tooth during childhood. In adults, its main function is sensory (detecting hot/cold). If the pulp is infected by decay, it dies (necrosis), requiring removal via Root Canal Treatment.
