Membrane (Dental Barrier)

A thin, sterile sheet placed over a bone graft site. It acts as a biological barrier to separate the slow-growing bone cells from the fast-growing gum cells.

Why It Matters

Without a membrane, gum tissue would grow into the hole where the bone graft is placed, causing the graft to fail. The membrane holds the space open ("tenting") so the body can rebuild solid bone.
