The condition where a tooth is prevented from erupting into its normal functional position. While most common with wisdom teeth, it can also happen to upper canines (eye teeth).

Why It Matters

An impacted tooth can damage the roots of neighboring healthy teeth (resorption) or push teeth out of alignment (crowding), ruining orthodontic work.

Clinical Details

• Soft Tissue Impaction: The tooth is out of the bone but covered by gum.
• Bony Impaction: The tooth is still encased in the jawbone.
