Dental Radiograph (X-ray)

A diagnostic image produced by projecting X-rays through the mouth onto a digital sensor. Dense structures (enamel, fillings, implants) appear white (radiopaque), while softer tissues and cavities appear dark (radiolucent).

Why It Matters

Visual exams only see 50% of the tooth. Radiographs reveal hidden decay, bone loss, abscesses, cysts, and impacted wisdom teeth.
