Salivary Glands

The organs responsible for producing saliva. There are three major pairs: Parotid (cheek), Submandibular (under the jaw), and Sublingual (under the tongue), plus hundreds of minor glands lining the lips and palate.

Why It Matters

Saliva is crucial for oral health. It neutralizes acids (buffering), washes away food debris, and contains calcium and phosphate to remineralize enamel. Dysfunction leads to dry mouth (Xerostomia) and rapid tooth decay.
